Samar's New Tourism Video Makes Us Want to Book a Flight to the Island ASAP
It features Solenn Heussaff as tourism ambassador.
(SPOT.ph) Unlike the rest of the Visayas (especially Boracay), Samar isn’t often a top choice when it comes to tourism destinations in the country. But adventurous travelers should start considering a visit to this island, which is home to a number of caves, a beautiful river, and a rich flora and fauna. This and more are showcased in Samar’s newest tourism video released on May 21.
Under the tourism campaign “Spark Samar,” the four-minute footage starts off with San Juan Floating Restaurant where you can admire the view of the San Juanico Bridge and San Juanico Strait while feasting on local delicacy. Hosted by Samar's tourism ambassador Solenn Heussaff, it goes on to feature the province's natural wonders such as the Sohoton Natural Bridge, Ulot River, and Lulugayan Falls. The celebrity also joined Samar’s banig weavers in Saob Cave, the women’s makeshift headquarters for decades because of the cool temperature that makes tikog grass soft and easier to weave.
How to get there: You can fly direct to Calbayog City in Samar or Catarman in Northern Samar, but there are more flights to Tacloban City in the neighboring province of Leyte. From there, you can take a bus or a van to Catbalogan, Samar's capital.
