Local Airline Warns Against Promo Fare #FakeNews
Philippine Airlines issues a statement over a "promo" site.
(SPOT.ph) Who isn't excited about seat sales? As travelers wanting to tick off more places on our bucket lists, discounted fares are often our only hope to get to various destinations around the world. So when a "2 tickets to everyone for only $1" announcement "to celebrate PAL's Anniversary" went around social media, a lot of people started to plan their next weekend getaway. Philippine Airlines, however, warned the public on July 17 that this is yet another "fake advertisement/promo."
The website philippineairlines.com-cheapflights.today lures readers to answer three questions to win a pair of airplane tickets for a dollar. A live counter also displays the number of available tickets left. As it turns out, there are similar bogus sites for Fly Emirates and Cebu Pacific.
Fraudulent and phishing websites are often created to obtain sensitive information from a user, including usernames and passwords. Before you know it, you've given even your credit card details just by answering an online survey.
Philippine Airlines' actual promo has been extended until July 22 with travel period until December 31. For more information, log on to Philippine Airlines' website.
