Here's How You Can Save the Planet This Long Weekend
...in your own little way, at least.
(SPOT.ph) Not all heroes wear capes, they say. They can just be a bunch of weekend travelers with water-repellent backpacks for gears and Swiss knifes for weapons. Their mission? Save the planet one coral fragment at a time. Local travel group Experience Philippines lets you do this and more this coming long weekend through the EXPH: Mangrove + Coral Planting Experience, which is scheduled from August 24 to 26 in Legazpi, Albay.
Unlike most Experience Philippines trips where you don't know where you're going and have no idea what you're doing, this weekend getaway has a carefully planned out itinerary so that you know what to expect. It includes coral farming, planting mangrove saplings, learning how to weave abaca through the help of locals, and swimming with giant clams. For a fee of P6,500, you get roundtrip land transfers to and from Legazpi, accommodations, daily meals, and lectures. You also get to donate to local community programs for environment preservation.
EXPH: Mangrove + Coral Planting Experience is from August 24 to 26. The other dates are: September 21 to 23, October 19 to 27, November 16 to 18, and December 14 to 16. Camp fee is at P6,500. To register, visit Experience Philippines' website or follow Experience Philippines on Facebook.
