You Can Soon Get to Stunning Sicogon in Just an Hour
It's shaping up to be the next big beach destination.
(SPOT.ph) Back in the '70s and '80s, Sicogon Island in northern Iloilo was an exclusive getaway for the rich and famous. Think the Hamptons in New York or Amanpulo in Palawan. The island paradise eventually became forgotten—but not for long, as Ayala Land is now transforming Sicogon into its newest tourism estate. To kick things off, a direct flight from Manila to Sicogon is all set to start by October 2018.
The reopening of Sicogon's airstrip comes after the launch of hilltop resort Balay Kogon in December 2016 and beachfront property Huni Sicogon in July. It will be exclusively used by Ayala-owned airline company AirSwift, which already had its test flight on August 20. The 50-seater Turboprop plane is expected to fly from Manila every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. This is great news unless you find excitement in long-haul travel—in other words, a one-hour commercial flight to Roxas City, one-and-a-half-hours of travel by land to Estancia Port, and then a 45-minute boat ride to Sicogon Island.
