This Airbnb in Tagaytay Takes Inspiration From the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
No need to fly thousand of miles on your broom for the Hogwarts experience.
(SPOT.ph) Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a wizard and stay in Hogwarts? You can’t board the fictional Hogwarts Express, but you can still make your fantasy come to life in this Airbnb suite inspired by the Harry Potter series. The best part? It’s just in Tagaytay.
The room, which is good for six to eight people, was brought to life by Madhouse Design Studio, an interior design and construction company based in Manila whose focus is not only to create beautiful spaces but also to use unique and unconventional methods. Growing up with the series, the design firm wanted to incorporate as many elements from the book as possible in the two-bedroom unit.
The living room area was made to look like the Gryffindor common room, complete with a plush sofa in the colors of the Hogwarts house. The wallpaper is also made to look like a bookshelf and an actual shelf filled with Harry Potter memorabilia!
Another interesting addition to the living room: the hand-painted crests of the four Hogwarts houses. Unlike Hogwarts, however, this room comes with a flat screen TV! And just below the television set is a “fireplace”—if you look closer, you can see Sirus Black’s face! This is a nod to a scene in the series where Harry’s godfather contacts him via the fireplace in Hogwarts.
The dining area is branded with the Three Broomsticks Inn, a popular hangout spot of wizards, in the village of Hogsmeade. Hung on the walls are proclamations or memos based on events that happened in the fifth book. The designers also thought of transitioning from bricks to gray stone works and wood flooring in the kitchen, leading to the living room area. It’s meant to make you feel like you are stepping off Platform 9 3/4 and onto Hogwarts. The kitchen itself is fashioned after the Hogwarts Express with a fully functional microwave, sink, stove, range hood, and refrigerator.
Stepping into the bedroom, you’ll feel like you’re in a Gryffindor dorm room with its maroon and gold accents. They didn’t miss the opportunity to also decorate the bedside tables with more Harry Potter collectibles.
