(SPOT.ph) Going on a weekend escape close to nature is always a good idea. You get to breathe fresh air, feast on healthy farm-to-table meals, and just enjoy the quiet away from the city. Damires Hills Tierra Verde Leisure Farm in Janiuay, Iloilo is one of those eco-tourism destinations where you can relax and unwind behind dense forests.
Opened in 2010, the 45-hectare property introduces guests to the wonders of organic farming and aquaphonics while providing rooms and cottages inspired by the traditional bahay kubo. Rates start at P4,440 for a standard room that's good for two, while the family-style cottage is at P6,840 (good for four persons). The resort has three swimming pools, one of which is overlooking the verdant farmlands; KTV rooms that can accommodate up to 15 guests; a 350-meter zip line; and ATVs for a rough-road adventure.
Thrillseekers can check out the Canopy Walk, which is a 217-meter wood and steel-cabled bridge believed to be the longest hanging bridge in Western Visayas. Its highest drop is at five stories, so better not look down while completing the 30-minute trail.
