You Can Now Visit These Places Even Without a COVID Test
As long as you're fully vaccinated.
(SPOT.ph) Since vaccines became available for economic frontliners, the Department of Tourism has been making sure that tourism workers in crowd-drawing spots are fully vaccinated. Local government units of travel destinations are also ramping up their vaccination programs. Given these conditions, a number of cities and provinces all over the Philippines are waiving the COVID-19 test requirement for fully vaccinated guests.
"We thank the LGUs for this development especially now that the number of tourists are slowly picking up. We hope that in the months ahead, we will achieve a hundred percent vaccination rate so we can push for a big move for tourism revival," Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat said in a statement on October 28.
As of October 24, these are the places that dropped COVID-19 testing as a travel requirement for fully vaccinated travelers, according to the DOT:
- Cebu Province
- Lapu-Lapu City
- Catbalogan City in Samar
These destinations require vaccination certifications acquired through the Department of Health's VaxCertPH portal:
- Iloilo City
- Negros Occidental
These destinations require vaccination cards:
- Clark Freeport Zone (except for areas under ECQ)
- Subic Bay Freeport Zone
- Tarlac (except for areas under ECQ and MECQ)
- Masbate Province
- Southern Leyte
- Tacloban City in Leyte
- Maasin City in Southern Leyte
- Misamis Oriental
Boracay, as of the moment, still requires negative RT-PCR test results. They're waiting to fully vaccinate 100% of the island's residents and tourism workers, which is expected to happen in November.
