(SPOT.ph)Â Just when we all thought that the daily number of COVID-19 cases in the country were finally going down, experts are once again seeing an upward trend in daily infections. Not to mention that there are already confirmed local cases of the Omicron variant in the country. Given these circumstances, Baguio City announced that "leisure travel requests on Baguio VISITA are temporarily not allowed effective January 2, 2022 until further notice."

What is Baguio VISITA?
Baguio VISITA or Visitor Information and Travel Assistance is the City of Pines' own system for travel approval. It allows the local government to regulate the number of visitors per day, and makes sure that arriving passengers have all the necessary documents (i.e. proof of full vaccination or negative COVID-19 test) before entering the city's borders.
The local tourism office clarified that all pre-approved travels or travelers that already have their QR-coded Tourist Pass will still be allowed enter on their declared travel date. All pending travel requests, on the other hand, are considered rejected for the time being.
