(SPOT.ph) With quarantine restrictions easing even for minors, it's about time that the whole family (canine companions included) gets out of the Metro for a weekend vacation. If you're looking for a quick two-hour trip, Twin Lakes Hotel in Laurel, Batangas near Tagaytay takes pride in their rooms with a view, a heated infinity pool for a relaxing dip even in the chilly weather, a game room for the adults, and a daycare for the little ones.
How This Batangas Hotel Keeps It Safe in the Pandemic
Guests are required to submit to temperature screening at the entrance of the hotel. Adults between the ages of 18 and 65 years old are no longer required to present an antigen or RT-PCR test as long as they're fully vaccinated. Just make sure that you present your vaccination card and valid government ID upon check-in. Everyone also needs to adhere to minimum health protocols, including wearing face masks in all common areas of Twin Lakes Hotel.
What to Do
Twin Lakes Hotel has 126 air-conditioned rooms, which include the 34-square-meter Superior Room for two adults and two kids; the slightly bigger Deluxe Room; the apartment-style Two-Bedroom Family Suite for four adults and two kids; and the Presidential Suite. All rooms feature a balcony with a view of Lake Taal and the surrounding Tagaytay Ridge.
Their usual guests include families with dogs, the whole clan with boisterous toddlers, and groups of friends who spend the night downing some shots. So you may want to think twice about going there for some peace and quiet—especially on the weekends when there's a huge probability that you end up having rowdy hotel-room neighbors making noise at 12 a.m. But at least if you're bringing your whole family, you'll blend right in.
If you're coming with a pet, make sure to book a Premier Room in advance. Furry companions are limited to either one dog (not exceeding 22 kg) or two cats per room, and they should have updated vaccinations, especially with their annual anti-rabies shots. You're also required to give a security deposit (P5,000/pet) upon check-in.
If you're looking for some recreational activities, Twin Lakes Hotel has a heated infinity pool with a depth ranging from three feet to five feet. There's also a wading pool for the little ones so they can join in on the fun, too.
Their Game Room features a billiard table and three chess sets, just in case you want to tap into your inner Elizabeth Harmon. They also have the Kid's Corner, where you can leave your toddlers for some nightcap. (This may or may not be a joke.) The Fitness Center is also open for gym buffs who don't want to skip even a day of workout. All facilities require a quick call to the front desk just so they can regulate the crowd.
During the months of March and April, their vineyard is open for grape-picking. Guests can harvest their own Catawba grapes, the Red Cardinals, and the Brazilian hybrid for free. Back in 2021, this service was extended to dine-in guests of the Twin Lakes Café with a minimum spend of P2,000.
Where to Eat
For breakfast buffet and a la carte meals, you can head to The Twin Lakes Café, their all-day dining restaurant. You can choose to dine at their air-conditioned section or at the al-fresco area overlooking Taal Lake. Indulge in their local favorites, especially their own version of the Tagaytay favorite: bulalo.
You can also head to the nearby Twin Lakes Shopping Village, which houses an Instagram-worthy Starbucks branch, Bag of Beans, Purple Beetle Cafe, Amira's, Comida de Lola, La Creperie, Hap Chan, and Greg's Fruitcakery. Like the hotel, this community mall is also pet-friendly.
How to Get There
If you're driving, the hotel is accessible through Nasugbu Highway, South Luzon Expressway, and Aguinaldo Highway. Travel time is about two hours from the south of Metro Manila.
