(SPOT.ph) Aside from its historical destinations and natural wonders, the province of Cebu in the Visayas is also popular because of its one-of-a-kind lechon. Carcar City is the place to get the best ones, but Cebu City also has its share of well-known restaurants where you can get the sought-after Visayas lechon. And if you're looking for a place to stay in the city, there's one that's within walking distance from popular lechon restaurants, such as Zach Lechon, Cebu's Original Lechon Belly, Ayer's Lechon, and San Roque Cebu Lechon. Plus, its location right next to a mall makes it convenient to feast on homegrown brands: Summit Galleria Cebu, which is right next to Robinsons Galleria Cebu along General Maxilom Avenue Extension in Cebu City.

Here's what you need to know about this hotel in Cebu:
Summit Galleria Cebu (SMG), the flagship hotel of Summit Hotels and Resorts, has a total of 220 rooms, including the 17 Summit Suites that are designed based on what Cebu's known for: mangoes, the Sinulog Festival, and Lapu-Lapu. Room rates range from P2,600 (Deluxe Twin and Deluxe King) to P6,100 (Summit Suite Lapu-Lapu); and if you're going with the whole family, their Premier Room (P3,600) has one king-sized bed and a single bed in a separate room.Â

What to Do
If you're looking to explore Cebu City before your adventure in other parts of the province, SMG is within a two-kilometer radius from Magellan's Cross, Basilica Minore del Santo Niño Cebu, Fort San Pedro, Casa Gorordo Museum, Cebu Provincial Museum, and the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House. It's also 12 kilometers away from the airport, which makes it a convenient pitstop before heading out to southern or northern Cebu.

SMG also has its own indoor swimming pool for when you just want to take a dip in the evening or do some laps in the morning.
Where to Eat
SMG just opened the fifth Café Summit, which is Summit Hotels and Resorts' dining concept brand. Like all the other Café Summit, SMG's in-house restaurant has the distinct cuisine of its location, but with a twist. Most of their ingredients are locally produced, too, which is in line with the F&B brand's push to promote Filipino food and produce.

They have, for example, Scallops Duo (P180), which is scallops prepared in two ways: battered and ceviche. The latter is their own take on kinilaw—part of the famous Cebuano concept of sutokil (sugba or grill, tola or soup, and kilaw or ceviche).

If you're looking for a salad, but also can't let go of your meat, there's the Summit Caesar Salad (P250), which comes with pork bagnet (P50). For a hot bowl, SMG has its own take on the Chicken and Prawn Laksa (P395).

But Café Summit is most famous for its entrees and even non-guest hotels frequent the place. Prices aren't too high, too. They have the full-blown Cebuano's Sutokil (P495), which is a fish dish prepared in three ways; Bistek Tagalog (P370); and Savoury Smothered Pork (P310) among others.

If you've tried most dishes at Café Summit, you can move on to the other restaurants at Robinsons Galleria Cebu. The restaurant has a direct connection to the mall, which makes it more convenient to try out other local dining outposts like Chikaan, which serves homecooked dishes placed in a bilao that are perfect for sharing; and Dumaguete's famous Sans Rival for your sweet cravings. Once in a while, Robinsons Galleria Cebu holds trade fairs and pop-ups of other Cebuano brands at their atrium.
