(SPOT.ph) Clark has come a long way from being an old U.S. military base where you’d go to shop Duty Free goods on an odd weekend out with the family. The place was a different zone altogether, literally speaking, but the times are changing. Clark is still very much its own space—but now in a way that puts it on the map of today. Case in point: the Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort.

This all-around spot has the answer to whatever you could need in a hotel, first and foremost it being the perfect distance for a brief getaway from Metro Manila. It hits that midpoint between being far enough from the daily grind but not too far that it’s a complete change. Or, if you're traveling with family, then you won't need an entire war strategy (i.g. 10-pages worth of planning and itinerary-making) to bring them here and actually be able to chill out. On really good days, it's barely a two-hour drive away.Â

Here’s what you need to know about Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort:
What to Do
Eat, sleep, swim, repeat (heck, maybe even exercise). Those are the main activities to do if you’re looking for a sanity break or quick downtime before restarting. But Hilton could also be the place to go if you’re on a business trip or attending an event thanks to it being fully equipped with boardrooms and ball rooms. But who are we kidding, we’re here to highlight the quick-escape part of this hotel.

Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort has around 308 rooms decked out in modern décor and yup, all the advantages. And of course a spacious bathroom, lots of floorspace, and the usual amenities. Plus, we can confirm that those are the kinds of beds you can burrow in and hibernate; the type of plush comforters you can have a deep and fulfilling—if only momentary—relationship with.

Once you’ve finally managed to pull yourself from the bed, or drag the fam out of theirs, you can bring the kiddies out to the pool. The building circles around a large pool complete with cabanas and lounge chairs. Yep, you can chill out while the kids splash around—live out your fancy-parent dreams with a cocktail in hand, poolside. If that isn’t the body of water that interests you though, you can head on out past the hotel’s outdoor parking lot to a manmade lake. No, you can’t swim in there, but you can take a walk, bike, jog, or even roller-skate on the path around this chill spot.

If you’re the active type, then note that the hotel has a fully-decked out gym, too, so you don’t have to miss a training sesh. Right next to it is a Kid’s Club where the young ones can play around or attend workshops.
Where to Eat

Eating is always a main event when you’re out on vacation. Or really, in general, as long as the food’s good—like how it is at Hilton Clark. There are three restaurants to check out on the property, all situated at the hotel’s lobby. Olive is the main restaurant where you can get the much-awaited breakfast buffet. The dining area is a large hall with floor-to-ceiling windows that open to views of the pool and surrounding open spaces. A walk into the open-kitchen concept area where you can dive into the treasures—a.k.a. the food—reveals a snazzy modern space with sections for different types of cuisine.
Across Olive is Xi, a Chinese restaurant that specializes in Cantonese cuisine. You can book private rooms for your group here—from 10 to 30 people—for more private celebrations. Then last but not least, there is Treat. A Gatsby-inspired space, this lounge is the perfect place for coffee and high tea in the afternoon, and then you can come back at night for a chill round of cocktails and drinks. You can even plan your visit so that you hit up Treat when there’s live music. Both Xi and Treat open to lush views of Hilton Clark’s surrounding greenery, courtesy of floor-to-ceiling windows.
