Ring in the New Year with feast at City Savor: A New Year Feast happening on January 9, 10 a.m., at The Trion Towers in Bonifacio Global City. Get ready for a whole day affair of great food, raffle prizes, entertainment, and sample dishes from Wagger, Elbert’s Sandwiches, Pipino Vegetarian, Buccino’s Ice Cream Experiments, among others. Prepare for a night of music with DJ Pasta Groove and his classic turntable beats, acoustic guitarist and crooner Keiko Necessario, and Pinoy blues rock sensation Hoochie Coochie Mikkie.

To celebrate the new Cinematheque Centre Manila, check out an array of beautiful Filipino and Danish films that will be shown by the Film Development Council of the Philippines from January 8 to 31. Kicking off the first crop of regular screenings is a selection of the country’s heritage films, all recently restored, like the much-celebrated Maynila sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag by Lino Brocka, Sonata by Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes, Portrait of the Artist as Filipino by Lamberto Avellana, and Badil by Chito Roño. A prime selection of films from Denmark will also be offered with The Hunt and In a Better World to be shown on the first leg. Selected films will have an admission fee from P100 to P200, while all other films will be screened for free.

BENCAB: Another Scale will open on January 9, 4 p.m., at the 1F Galleries of the UP Vargas Museum. The exhibit is part of the year-long celebration under the banner BenCab 50 Creative Years. See the recreation of his installation done in Bandung, Indonesia in 1998 as a result of his collaboration with other Southeast-Asian artists for a workshop on urbanization. The installation is a reflection on urbanization and a critique of present-day environmental dilemmas. A reprise of his performance around this installation, also first executed in Bandung, poignantly marks the opening. Catch it until January 29.

After seven months, Issay Rodriguez was finally able to complete her latest collection. Catch her Blueprints exhibit from January 9 to February 6 at Silverlens. Through print-making, drawing, and photography, she seamlessly melds time-frames into one landscape. She spent a lot of time in Escolta, Manila: taking photos, immersing in its daily routine, and familiarizing herself with its many facets. As seen through the artworks that she produced, these were accomplished with painstaking effort and careful consideration. Each representation captures spatial moments and significant instances in the process.

The Metro Manila Concert Orchestra, Asia's emerging modern orchestra, celebrates its 15th concert season with a special offering: The Enchanting Ravel and Rodrigohappening on January 8, 7:30 p.m., at the CCP Little Theater. This features the mother and daughter tandem of pianist Cristine Coyiuto and flutist Caitlin Coyiuto. Cristine will be performing the Maurice Ravel's Concerto in G Major, while Caitlin will perform her rendition of Joaquin Rodrigo's "Fantasie para un Gentilhombre." They will be accompanied by the Metro Manila Concert Orchestra. Tickets are at P3,090.
