The Guide to the Manila International Book Fair 2017

All you need to know: From ticket info to the best time to go.

( For book lovers and writers, the annual Manila International Book Fair is a much-awaited event. It almost feels like Christmas because where else can you find a whole convention center filled with books and at big discounts? It is the country's biggest book fair, after all, and its 38th year is said to be bigger than ever.

This year, the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) will occupy two floors of the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia from September 13 to 17, with the entire second level dedicated to children's and young adult books. That's overwhelming, we know! So we compiled a guide to help you curb your book insanity in the next five days.

When to Go

The MIBF is from September 13 to 17, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The best time to go is on the first day to beat the rest of the book hoarders. But if you're lucky, we hear that some publishing houses replenish their supply on the weekends—you have to brave the crowd though.

S Maison at the Conrad

This high-end mall at the Mall of Asia Complex has a wide range of restaurants to choose from. For a mix of European and Japanese cuisine, there's Epilogue on the ground floor; for hot pot, try Bijin Nabe by Tsukada Noho on the second floor; and great pizza at Plank Sourdough Pizza also on the ground floor.

SM By The Bay

One of its newest restaurants is Gen Korean BBQ perfect for all the meat eaters. For must-not-miss buffets, go for Vikings, Four Seasons Hotpot City, and La Fiesta.

Mall of Asia

You may have been to Mall of Asia a number of times, but it's highly possible that you haven't tried everything there. There are Yabu and Ippudo for Japanese fare, Llaollao for dessert, and Masuki for some Filipino food.
