10 Churches to Visit for Visita Iglesia
These heritage churches are a must-see whether you're a devout Catholic, a history buff, an architecture geek-or all three.
Visita Iglesia is an age-old Holy Week devotion practiced by Catholics all over the world. The devotion traditionally entails visiting seven churches on Holy Thursday as penance and a prayer is said at each stop. Others reflect on the 14 stations of the cross, prompting some believers to double the number of churches to visit as they reflect on a specific event in the passion of Christ in every church. With the help of travel blogger and heritage advocate Ivan Henares of Ivan About Town, SPOT.ph rounded up 10 of the most interesting heritage churches in Manila that you should not miss out on-whether you're a devout Catholic or just a fan of history and architecture.
