(SPOT.ph) If there's anything that years of the pandemic have taught us, it's that art will continue to thrive no matter what. Art Fair Philippines, for one, came back this year with a live event, making us even more excited about exhibitions in various formats. Each show makes it more interesting for art enthusiasts to visit museums, galleries, and cultural centers. And there's no better time to visit these places than now.

Check out these art exhibits in Metro Manila for the month of November:

A Pop of Happiness

Fitz Herrera

Abstractionist Fitz Herrera presents his new series of smaller paintings of the same dimensions, all encased in acrylic glass. Herrera employs his familiar thick and vibrant splotches of paint to express strong emotions and to reveal an unrestrained attitude toward art-making. "My works are the direct transmittal of my overwhelming emotions at this given time, which yearns to see and understand possibilities that are perhaps more desirable," writes Herrera.

Runs until November 21 at Modeka Creative Space, 20A La Fuerza I, 2241 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.

Celine Lee's cubic sculpture consists of more than 500 lenticular prints of images that she deliberately offloads from her smartphone. Free Space becomes a contemplation on the multitude of images that capture moments of mundane existence. Lee assigns new value to these images that may be devoid of personal significance at the time they were taken instinctively or unconsciously using a phone camera.

Runs until December 3 at Artinformal Gallery, The Alley at Karrivin, 2316 Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City.

TADA!!!

TADA!!!, a play on the word data, suggests the main component of the sound installations by visual artist Ian Carlo Jaucian. Playful and attributing to various phenomena when sound as data is created and transmitted, Jaucian's work "appears to be oscillating between raw and manipulated, knowledge and trickery, profound and absurd," states the exhibit notes.

Runs until November 16 at Underground Gallery, Makati Cinema Square, 2130 Don Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.

Geraldine Javier's solo presentation A Tree is Not a Forest takes visual cues and inspiration from her experience in actual farming. As Javier explores certain narratives in her new collection of paintings, she makes references to environmental and scientific discoveries and their potential in constructing her imagery on canvas.

Runs until December 20 at Silverlens Galleries, 2263 Don Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City.

Youth

Valerie Chua

Valerie Chua continues to illustrate a modern world in the digital age, evident in her poetic approach to composition and the signification of life complexities that she portrays through contrasting yet complementing visual elements. The exhibit further exemplifies how Chua is a keen observer of the world's dynamism from a different perspective, or may it be through the filtered lens that affirms our presence on social media.

Runs until November 24 at the Finale Art File Gallery, Warehouse 17, La Fuerza Compound (Gate 1), 2241 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.

Look at Me, Hari Seldon!

Pepe Delfin

In an exhibition that alludes to Hari Seldon, a literary character and mathematician in Isaac Asimov's science fiction books, Pepe Delfin finds correlations in mathematical concepts and formulations when painting her geometric and abstract compositions. Delfin associates the numerical value of zero, its actual symbolism, with other possible meanings, such as freedom and endlessness, that she then relates to our existence.

Runs until December 3 at MONO8 Gallery, BLK 113, 53 Connecticut Street, Greenhills, San Juan City.

Interspersed in the gallery space, Victor Balanon's videos and object constructions serve as his interrogation about the need for renewal and recalibration in art-making. His animation on loop and the configuration of his mixed media pieces, both monochromatic, reinforce the idea of coming full circle and being reminded of the simplistic approach to art production.

Runs until November 19 at MO_Space Gallery, 3/F MOS Design, 9th Avenue, Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

Curated by Erwin Romulo, it features works by Nick Deocampo, Bea Camacho, Poklong Anading, Tad Ermitano, and Angel Velasco Shaw, mirroring socio-political conditions and concerns throughout history.

Runs until December 31 at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, MK Tan Centre, 30th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

Gates

Artist-designer Leeroy New presents a collection of sculptural pieces—a series of mirrors with frames and edges that appear either in flames or melting. In Gates, the mirrors, as if portals to another realm, "reveal not only what is seen but also what lies concealed beneath the surface," as the caption indicates.

Opened on October 12 at Aphro, The Alley at Karrivin Plaza, 2316 Chino Roces Avenue Extension, Makati City.
