(SPOT.ph) The pandemic threw a huge curveball for everyone, including artists and cultural workers. Being crowd-gathering indoor spaces, several art galleries and museums temporarily closed in the early part of the quarantine in 2020, forcing them to adapt and shift to the digital platform through virtual exhibitions. Now that our favorite places are opening up again (art fairs included!), most galleries are once again welcoming art enthusiasts. If you're part of the crowd that sorely misses the quiet of an exhibit, then don't forget to reserve an appointment in advance and strictly follow health guidelines. Stay safe!

In Pursuit of Less
In Pursuit of Less takes its cue from the dynamism, energies, and relations that take place between individuals and the environment they are in. The group exhibition includes Alger Guverra, Genavee Lazaro, JD Yu, Jose Solon Perfecto, and Simon Te.

An Echo Made Tangible / (sun in an empty room)
A visual documentation of how memories are perceived and remembered, Luis Antonio Santos' way of producing an image suggests that recollection becomes an arduous human task as time passes. The exhibition notes state, "Each error, misprint, misalignment, or abrasion, even the integrity of the paint and the mesh, is a trace of the hand that made these images."

Unpainting
Unpainting, Vien Valencia’s first solo show, reimagines a painting by reconstructing its physicality and composition based on the premise that early humans produced art through automatism. According to the artist, the pieces comment "on [creativeness] and thus also the process of creating art itself."

Kiyeme
Kiyeme signifies Kiko Escora’s artistic process and production that veers away from viewing art making within the intellectual lens. He further says in a post that the exhibition is "a culmination of moods and fantasies, and gut feels[.]"

Blindspot Machinery
Central to Mano Gonzales’ works in a solo exhibition is the idea that remnants of the past essentially remain to be traces of the passage of time—may be familiar yet unremembered. The works, transformed as relics, consist of drawings on paper with wood and steel frames.

Child at Heart
JP Pining’s seventh solo show takes inspiration from childhood experiences and the nostalgia of being young once. Child at Heart serves as a recollection of the fond memories of our young selves.

In an experimental art project, Jeona Zoleta fills the entire gallery space with works on canvas, sculptures, and installations for Possessed Projxxx. The exhibition is a result of Zoleta’s initiative to produce art with her fellow artist as they gather in her home.

No U-Turn
Consisting of abstract paintings and sculptural works, No U-Turn gathers artists Richard Buxani, Julieanne Ng, Eghai Roxas, Zeke Cancio, and Raffy Ugaddan, to name a few. The exhibition addresses the question "How do you write about spontaneity?" while proposing that "there is no turning back" in art.
