Hamilton's Manila Premiere Is a Dream Come True for Rachelle Ann Go
She "had a feeling that Hamilton would be coming to the Philippines."
(SPOT.ph) During the Hamilton cast reveal in July, we found out that Filipino artist Rachelle Ann Go is reprising her role as Eliza Hamilton for the musical's international tour. This tour, as most of us already know, premiered at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque last September 17, and Filipino Hamilfans are just excited to see a local performer alongside a world-class ensemble.
Go first played the role of Eliza in the original London production of Hamilton, which premiered at the Victoria Palace Theatre on December 21, 2017. Her remarkable performance earned her the prestigious Best Actress award from BroadwayWorld UK.

Eliza Hamilton, who is Alexander Hamilton's devoted wife, is a pivotal figure in the story. Her character evolves throughout the musical, and she is depicted as a strong and compassionate woman who supports her husband's political ambitions while also enduring personal hardships.
In a press event on September 20, Go shared how it feels to be reprising her role in the Philippines.
"It's so nice to be home. This is a dream come true for me, and I was actually telling some of my friends that back in 2017, when I did this role in the West End, I had a feeling that Hamilton would be coming to the Philippines. For some reason, I just had that vision, and I told myself [that] I'm going to do this role in the Philippines. And here I am doing it in front of our, you know, kababayans. And yeah, this is such a dream come true. And also to be home and to be with my family. Isang pangarap ko ito," she told to members of the media.
When asked what's the difference between playing Eliza Hamilton in London and in Manila, Go noted the Filipino's undeniable politeness when inside the theater.
"You know, Filipinos are very polite. They have to wait until the end of the number to give applause, which is amazing. They're into it. They're absorbing every single word, every single scene. So just to see their faces in awe, it just makes my heart jump."
The local performer also said that just being home is already a gift.
Hamilton runs from September 17 to November 26 at The Theatre at Solaire, Solaire Resort and Casino, 1 Aseana Avenue, Parañaque City. Hamilton ticket prices range from P2,645 to P8,993.
