The Reconciliation Dinner Returns Onstage a Year After the Elections
It's the latest one-act play by award-winning writer Floy Quintos.
(SPOT.ph) It has been officially a year since we witnessed one of the Philippines' most polarizing presidential elections in recent history. We've seen lives changed, convictions challenged, and principles revealed. The Reconciliation Dinner returns to the stage and asks: Are you happy with your life now as a Filipino in the Philippines? The one-act play by Floy Quintos runs every weekend from May 13 to 28 at Power Mac Center Spotlight in Circuit Makati (not to be confused with the new Samsung Arts Performing Theater at the same mall).

The Reconciliation Dinner, which was first staged in November 2022 by Dulaang UP, is a dark comedy that looks into the dynamics among a group of friends who hold divergent political views in the aftermath of the 2022 elections. On one side you have the Medinas, and on the other the Valderamas. The campaign period revealed so much about what each side believes in, put out into the open the hurtful things and even unspoken truths, and showed how far they were willing to go for the choices they made. A year after the elections, the two families are forced to confront their personal differences amid political turmoil happening in the background.
Rounding up the cast is an award-winning ensemble: Stella Cañete Mendoza as Dina Medina, Frances Makil Ignacio as Susan Valderama, Randy Medel Villarama as Bert Medina, Jojo Cayabyab as Fred Valderama, Nelsito Gomez as Ely, Mica Pineda as Mica, and Phi Palmos as Norby.
The Reconciliation Dinner is directed by Dexter M. Santos. The artistic and production team is composed of: John Batalla (Lights Designer), Mitoy Sta. Ana (Set and Costume Designer), Arvy Dimaculangan (Sounds Designer), Steven Tansiongco (Video and Poster Designer), Marvin Olaes and Davidson Oliveros (Dramaturg), Mikko Angeles (Assistant Director), Jojit Lorenzo, Vlad Gonzales, Dino Dimar (Photographers), Joshua Caesar Chan (Production Manager), and Rico Angelo Blanco (Stage Manager).

The Reconciliation Dinner runs every weekend from May 13 to 28, with 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. shows, at Power Mac Center Spotlight, Ayala Mall Circuit, Circuit Makati. Tickets, which are priced from P1,500 to P2,000, are available through Ticket2Me.
