The Last Five Years

(SPOT.ph) Word came out in June that theater artists Gab Pangilinan and Myke Salomon star in another musical under Barefoot Theatre Collaborative: The Last Five Years, which opened on September 29 in Circuit Makati. Tickets to the show sold out sometime ago which left many theater fans suffering FOMO. But good news! It seems they heard your pleas and have announced show extensions. On top of its original three-week run, you can now catch The Last Five Years on all weekends of October. And because you "won't do anything half-assed," it's time to grab your tickets before they run out again.

What you need to know about Barefoot Theatre Collaborative's The Last Five Years:

The Last Five Years is a captivating tale that delves into the five-year romance between Jamie Wellerstein, a promising novelist portrayed by Salomon; and Cathy Hiatt, an aspiring actress portrayed by Pangilinan. The narrative unfolds through a series of 14 songs, cleverly employing two timelines: Jamie's story follows a chronological order, while Cathy's is presented in reverse. Eventually, their distinct vignettes converge at a poignant intersection.

If the title sounds familiar, that's because there was an American film adaptation released in 2014, starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan.

This Off-Broadway musical was locally staged at the Carlos P. Auditorium in Makati by 9 Works Theatrical. The cast included Nikki Gil and Joaquin Valdes, with Robbie Guevara at the helm.

Barefoot's production is directed by Topper Fabregas with musical direction by Rony Fortich, production design by Joey Mendoza, lighting design by Meliton Roxas Jr., and choreography by Delphine Buencamino. It runs for 90 minutes with no intermission.

How much are the tickets and where to buy them:

The Last Five Years uses a traverse stage or corridor stage, where audience members are predominantly on two sides of the stage and facing towards each other. It's free seating per guest zone, which is either Silver (P2,700) or Gold (P3,200). Viewers are advised to be at the venue at least 30 minutes before the show.
