ALT Philippines 2024 is not just an art show; it's a reimagined art event that promises to challenge the norms and offer a fresh perspective on contemporary art.
Who are the ALT Galleries:
The 2024 edition is the third time nine Metro Manila-based art galleries are coming together for an art festival.
- Artinformal
- Blanc
- The Drawing Room
- Galleria Duemila
- Finale Art File
- MO_Space
- Underground
- Vinyl On Vinyl
- West Gallery.
Together, they form a collective that champions art education, patronage, and community engagement, setting the stage for a vibrant and inclusive art scene.
What to expect at ALT Philippines 2024:
ALT Philippines 2024 will showcase the works of over 200 contemporary artists, including a mix of local talent and international names. The event will not only feature expansive gallery spaces but also special installations that are sure to captivate visitors. Esteemed artists Juan Alcazaren, Geraldine Javier, Pete Jimenez, and Oca Villamiel will present their visionary works, while the video room will host a group show on the moving image curated by Cocoy Lumbao. Additionally, the multidisciplinary art unit Somatosonic is set to deliver a live performance that will resonate with audiences in the breakout space.
One of the highlights of ALT Philippines 2024 is ALT Conversations, a series of dialogues that delve into topics within Philippine contemporary art that have yet to be thoroughly explored. These conversations are designed to stimulate audience participation and foster in-depth discussions in an intimate environment, making art more accessible and engaging for everyone.
The event is organized by the non-profit organization Contemporary Art Collective, which underscores the show's commitment to social responsibility. This year's social project involves a collaboration with Univers, and the proceeds from a silent auction will benefit scholars of the Philippine High School for the Arts in Laguna. This initiative reflects the collective's dedication to nurturing the next generation of artists and ensuring that the arts remain a vital part of our society.
ALT Philippines 2024 is from February 21 to 25 at SMX Hall A, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. For updates, follow ALT Philippines on Facebook.
