(SPOT.ph) Like all pet parents, your phone's gallery is probably running out of memory because of all the high-res photos and videos of your little one. Your puppy learning a new trick? Check. Your dog sleeping peacefully? Check. Your cat looking exceptionally stern? Check. Knowing how important your pets' photos are, Google Arts and Culture launched Pet Portraits in November 2021. This cool feature on their app lets you discover your furry friends' art look-alike among thousands of works in art galleries around the world.

Here's how to use Pet Portraits:

  • Download the free Google Arts and Culture app for Android and iOS.
  • Tap on the rainbow camera tab, which leads you to a selection of Google Arts and Culture's many features, such as Pet Portraits, Art Filter, Art Projector, and Art Selfie.
  • On the Pet Portraits tab, you can either take a real-time photo of your pet or upload an old picture. You don't need to crop it out because the app can take care of putting his/her image front and center.
  • Wait for Google's algorithm to recognize your pet's photo and match it with the art collections of their partner museums and galleries.
  • The results are shown based on the percentage of resemblance.
  • Tap 'Share' to post on your favorite social media platform.

Sometimes, the resulting pet portrait is just part of a bigger masterpiece, which you can see by clicking on the photo. You can also learn more about the artwork and its artist through Google Arts and Culture's comprehensive database. There's the option of viewing the piece in augmented reality, which lets you mount the artwork on your own wall at home—virtually only, of course.
