Gubat QC
43 Mayaman Street, Diliman, Quezon City
Open Tuesdays to Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
(SPOT.ph) If you live in Quezon City, then you've probably heard through the grapevine about a certain Filipino garden restaurant hidden somewhere along C.P. Garcia near the UP Diliman Campus. This literal hidden gem is located near the Bonsai Society. Dubbed Gubat QC, it is as enigmatic a spot as its food is the bomb, which, by the way, is served sans utensils. With such a unique vibe and A+ fare, you'd think this spot is full 100% of the time, but in our experience, the getting there has always been tricky for folks who don't live within walking distance. Raise your hands if you've ever brought a car and got stuck in the basically one-way lane to this gem. But it seems the resto has finally heard our pleas! This OG kamayan resto has just opened a new branch near Maginhawa Street, complete with a bigger space and yup, a parking area (on the street, to be clear).

Check out Gubat QC's newest outpost near Maginhawa:
Located at 43 Mayaman Street, Gubat QC's new branch is near the busy spots of Maginhawa, Quezon City Circle, and Quezon City Hall. The new outpost boasts a much bigger capacity, more open spaces, and, yes, more options for parking—that is, if you're comfortable parking along the wide street. It is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
True to its original vibe of if-you-know-you-know, the new outpost is so unassuming and hidden that you'd think it was a random abandoned lot. One step into the unfinished looking gate along residential Mayaman Street though and you'll be enticed by the al fresco spot's classic Filipino tunes and the scent of deep-fried noms.
We'll admit the foliage in the new outpost is not as abundant as in the OG, but it does have its own charm. Think a rustic little nook in the crowded city.
Aside from its aesthetic, Gubat QC's full kamayan menu is also available at this outpost. Have your fill of their signature Filipino eats like the Tapa Flakes Rice Meal complete with salted egg and pako salad (P165), their umami-rich Adobong Baboy Rice Meal (P175), their sinfully porky Lechon Kawali Rice Meal (P220) and many other snacks and meals.
Those nearer to the UP Campus area can rest easy! They can still get their fill of Gubat's tasty eats in the OG outpost as Gubat QC confirms that they will still keep that branch open.
