Make Your Own Cafe-Maginhawa

True to its name, you can make your own drinks at this café, or, really make customized cuppas. Choose from a variety of base drinks like coffee or tea and add sinkers and other bites to make every sip a bit more interesting. It's also worth noting that there are couch seats in this cafe, so if you intend to stay a while here, you might want to make a beeline for the more comfortable spots in the café.

Chapter Coffee Roastery & Cafe

Chapter Coffee Roastery & Cafe is a favorite among coffee connoisseurs, and we bet you didn't know the first branch is the one in Maginhawa. This branch is relatively smaller than others, but it still packs the same quality brews.

Black Scoop Cafe

There seems to be a Black Scoop Cafe everywhere these days, and Maginhawa is no exception. Hit up this spot for a variety of drinks, pastries, and quick meals. This spot is popular with a lot of freelancers, so come early and save your spot. Pro tip: Be friendly, you might end up at the long table and have to share the space. Best not to antagonize anyone by hoarding a lot of space or being too noisy.

Daily Habit

Located in a new building along the popular Maginhawa food street is Daily Habit, a 30-seater café that calls out to you from afar thanks to its bright lights and clean aesthetic. Sporting a design that is best described as industrial minimalist, this no-frills establishment is slowly becoming one of our favorite spots in the area. Working or studying here is great thanks to the abundant electric sockets and complimentary two-hour WiFi.

Bo's Coffee

A chain coffee shop, Bo's Coffee supports local coffee farmers and serves Philippine coffee from Sagada, Benguet, Bukidnon, Davao, and Cotabato. They have your usual coffee drinks plus some pastries and quick bites to fill you up as you work. Pro tip: Not all tables have sockets, so make sure to keep an eye out for the select seats that have 'em or come to the café fully-charged.

Theo's Kitchen + Cafe

Theo's Kitchen + Cafe is a relatively small space, so if you're doing something that requires the utmost focus and minimal distractions, we recommend getting a seat on the second floor. Bonus, Theo's is a great place to be at if you are hungry. They serve a relatively wide range of food here including rice meals and pasta.

Isabel's Coffee House

Isabel's Coffee House is a quaint and homey establishment. They serve meals as well as drinks, both hot and iced. It's often a place where people meet up and catch up so if you do decide to work or study at this spot, best to bring your best set of earphones or headphones to drown out the noise.

SGD Coffee Bodega

While not exactly along the main Maginhawa Street, it's still worth a detour to SGD Coffee Bodega. This small but serious-about-coffee shop is best known for its black coffee so if you're a no-frills kind of coffee drinker, this is the spot for you. The best seats in our opinion are the ones near the windows as those tend to be nearer the power outlets, so if your laptop needs charging best to keep this in mind.

Kape Segundo

Another coffee shop on the list that's not exactly along the main Maginhawa road but more or less in the general area is Kape Segundo. It's not that much of a detour, but it's worth going the extra street just to have a bite of their delectable pastries, especially their cookies. The place has a very tropical feel, a lot of greens and browns, perfect for relaxing and calming yourself before an exam or passing a paper.

Infinitea Maginhawa

Okay, we get it, Infinitea is not exactly a coffee shop, but if you're not a fan of caffeinated drinks and you need a place to study near UP, Infinitea would be top of mind. There aren't a lot of power sockets in the shop, but they do make up for it with their comfy seats and couches.
