(SPOT.ph) The Michelin Guide continues to have a massive pull on diners around the world. It's considered a huge honor for restaurants to gain their coveted "stars"—but what of losing them? This has sadly become the case for renowned French establishment Restaurant Guy Savoy, as it was announced on Monday, February 27 that they've been demoted to having just two stars in the guide's latest published edition.

Here's the deal on Restaurant Guy Savoy losing Michelin stars:

Headed by the eponymous chef—who's been named "Best Chef in the World" by no less than La Liste—Restaurant Guy Savoy is now listed as having just two stars from last year's three, a status they held from 2002 to 2022. This is surprising given the massive impact on the French dining scene of both the Monnaie de Paris restaurant and the chef; the establishment is one that tops many a food lover's bucket lists, and Savoy himself is considered an ambassador for preserving the French "art de vivre" (art of living).

The Michelin Guide's Gwendal Poullennec says, "These are exceptional restaurants, so you can imagine that these decisions are carefully considered, supported by numerous visits from our inspectors throughout the year." The exact reasons for the demotion, however, were not aired publicly.
