This New IKEA Dish Transforms Their Famous Meatballs Into Sisig

(SPOT.ph) You might already be over your home renovation phase and you probably don't see the need to pay another very expensive visit to the largest IKEA in the world. Well, you're wrong. The Swedish furniture store recently launched new items on their bistro and restaurant menus that will make you want to visit the store solely for the food. Say hej! to the new items at IKEA Pasay: Meatball Sisig, Corn Ball, and Chocolate Soy Ice Cream.

These are the new dishes and desserts you need to try on your next visit to IKEA Pasay

If you've satisfied your questions about the iconic Swedish Meatballs from the IKEA menu, then let the Meatball Sisig (P95) pique your curiosity once more. For this new dish, the store smashes the meatballs which form clumps of ground beef, and is fried with quintessential sisig ingredients like red onions and chilies. 

Maybe you can chalk it up to the placebo effect in that with the first few bites of the Meatball Sisig but after more bites, it'll start tasting like burger steak but crumbled into huge bits. What makes this an interesting new dish though, innovation aside, is that it's affordable.

The Meatball Sisig is only available from Monday to Friday at the IKEA restaurant, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and priced at P95 for a meal with rice and vegetables.

The food item we do recommend—yes, it's SPOT.ph-approved—is IKEA's Corndog  (P100/three pieces), available in the store's Bistro. Following the Korean corndog trend, IKEA creates its own version of the snack and shapes it into a gigantic ball (measured in three bites). The soft and moist batter, surprisingly, has actual corn kernels in it that lend a sweet crunch—complementing the surprise in the center: a piece of Swedish meatball.

If you can hold your meaty cravings and curiosities a little longer—specifically until May 8—you can make the most of your trip to IKEA Pasay and try the Chocolate Soy Ice Cream (P10) that will be available at the Bistro. This soybean-based icy treat has a sweetness to it that's far from cloying, borderline addicting that you'd want a second cone.

Aside from the Meatball Sisig, Corndog, and Chocolate Soy Ice Cream, IKEA Philippines also launched other items, namely the Pork Ribs in Barbecue Sauce (P490), Pineapple Donut (P65/piece), Mixed Berries Donut (P65/piece), Langka Sans Rival (P180/slice, P1380/full cake), and 420-gram bags of fruity slushies. These are all available at the IKEA Pasay store.
