(SPOT.ph) If you've been following the food scene, you'd know it's been quite a year for Simpol Chef Myke Sarthou, or Chef Tatung, as he is fondly called. He has opened several restaurants less than a year apart, including a degustation spot in Bonifacio Global City and a new family-style dining restaurant in Quezon City. He's also authored several award-winning cookbooks too.  But it seems the celebrity Chef is nowhere near slowing down. He just recently announced that he and Charlie Paw's Tasteless Group will be opening their latest dining venture, called New York Cubao, at the Public Eatery in Robinsons Magnolia today, April 26.

Here's everything we know about Chef Myke Tatung's newest restaurant in Robinsons Magnolia:

New York Cubao, albeit one of the smaller food concepts (in terms of size) under Chef Tatung's belt, is not one to miss. The F-train or New York subway-inspired stall, located at Robinsons Magnolia's new upscale communal dining hall, plays into Filipino and American dining connections. In a discussion with SPOT.ph, Chef Tatung describes New York Cubao as "an American diner with a Pinoy twist or an Americanized tapsilogan."

Currently on soft launch, the menu features American comfort food staples like burgers, hotdogs, and fried chicken but with a unique and quirky Filipino twist. We suggest hitting up this food stall when you're especially hungry. Yup, true to its American-inspired concept, the food at New York Cubao is oversized—supersized, if you will.  Items not to miss from their current menu include the humongous, crispy fried chicken with a side of rice and kwek-kwek—or egg waffles, if you wanna be fancy— called the KFC, a.k.a Kwek-Kwek Fried Chicken (P435) and the Two Become One (P550) or the Beef Pares and Mashed Potato with Bone Marrow on the side.

But if you're not in the mood for rice meals, you can also try their sandwiches. Their take on the American classic hamburger is the Chori Na, Love You! or their Chorizo Burger, which comes in regular (P350) or with cheese (P470). You also wouldn't go wrong with trying their take on the New York-style hotdog sandwich. The Longga, The Better (P470) is a longganisa hotdog-style sandwich with onions and tomatoes as toppings, a la its American counterpart.

As you would notice, the food at New York Cubao has lots of Filipino pop culture references with a hint of American influence. Not only that, but the dish names are hella punny and quirky too.  There's much more to come as New York Cubao finds its stride. Chef Tatung tells SPOT.ph that there are more items to be added to the menu in the weeks to follow. Safe to say, we should keep our eyes peeled for more "Afam x Pinoy" food to come out of their kitchen.
