(SPOT.ph) If there's anything the world needs more of especially in these trying times, it's kindness—or simply put, good people doing good for others for the sake of doing good. One bakery in Laguna exhibited the virtue, giving away free bread (and preventing food waste in the process!)—as documented in a post published today, May 5, and now making rounds on our Facebook feeds.

This Laguna bakery is winning over the hearts of people on social media:
Wildbreads—a home bakery in Los Baños, Laguna known for their sourdough breads, flavored croissants, and other drool-worthy bakes—posted about how they made loaves of bread using croissant trimmings. "Not many people know that when we make croissants, we trim a lot of the dough and we usually end up with a lot of trimmings," the bakery writes. They proceeded to announce that those loaves are up for grabs at their store! As of writing all loaves have been taken, but their act of kindness thankfully didn't go unnoticed by the Facebook crowd; as of writing the post has more than 4,000 reactions and 600-plus shares.
JC Mendoza, who co-owns the bakery with his partner Nicole, explains how they got the idea following a post on UPLB Freedom Wall Facebook page. "Last week someone anonymously posted on the... page that they just became a 'Top Fan' on our Facebook page," he relays. "Unfortunately they've never been able to buy bread from us I think due to financial reasons."
The pair decided to give away free breads—something they used to do during the pandemic, albeit with sourdough breads and baguettes. "Thanks to our local community's support through pay-it-forwards, we have actually been able to do several free bread runs, especially at the height of COVID," Mendoza explains. "We also send breads occasionally to Rose of Sharon, a community center in Bay, Laguna."
"With the response to today's free breads we think it will serve our community well to keep doing this regularly," he continues. We're more than happy that folks like these still exist—kind souls that bring back our faith in humanity.
