Hit up this gym for their great-tasting truffle pasta:

El Chiringuito is the in-house restaurant and café of Manila Padel Club, the first gym to bring in the social sport of Paddle in the Philippines. The restaurant-café has plenty of hefty dishes on the menu, which comes as no surprise because who wouldn't be famished after a hard workout, right?

Whether you're looking to refuel (go get them #gains) or are just looking to sate the truffle craving, you'll want to go for El Chiringuito's Truffle Pasta (P550). This dish coats the spaghetti in bits of portobello mushrooms, truffle, cream, cheese, and parsley, and is served with toasted bread on the side. Even if the dish reads rather simple on paper, it's one of the El Chiringuito dishes that's worth every penny.

Even if we couldn't eat anymore because we were too full prior to visiting El Chiringuito, the earthiness of the sauce coating the pasta kept us twirling our forks and taking bites of it. The key that most restaurants often miss but El Chiringuito does perfectly is adding the perfect amount of truffle. It didn't make us feel sick or umay to the point that we needed a palate cleanser.

Just on the off chance a sweet craving comes along after wiping out the plate of truffle-coated pasta, the French Toast (P750) is a decision that won't cause any regret. Pro tip: you might want to split the dish with a companion as it's on the hefty side—but no judgment if you finish an entire plate on your own.

Our first impression of the dish is that it looks like a burnt version of Japan's fruit sandwiches. A thick layer of strawberry cream with actual strawberry bits is sandwiched in between toasted sourdough toast. It's topped with more slices of strawberries, dusted off with powdered sugar, and drizzled with raw wild honey.

This toast's structure leans toward being a dessert, but because of its heft, you can definitely nosh on the French Toast as your main meal if truffle pasta isn't your thing.

El Chiringuito is at Manila Padel Club, 9th Avenue, corner Lane R, Taguig City. For more information, visit El Chiringuito's Instagram page.
