(SPOT.ph) Because of the pandemic, we’ve all pivoted to working out at home, buying equipment to set up a home gym, and subscribing to workout classes via Zoom. Restrictions have significantly loosed, but we can’t deny there is still this reluctance in working in closed spaces. Enter Manila Padel Club, an outdoor gym in Bonifacio Global City where you can sweat it out, build muscles, and produce endorphins in a much safer open area.

Here's what you need to know about Manila Padel Club:

Manila Padel Club is the first to bring the social sport of padel to the Philippines. Padel, akin to tennis, racquetball, and squash, is a sport usually played in doubles in an enclosed court surrounded by walls of glass and metallic mash. The added "wall" is what sets this apart from the other aforementioned sports.

Another thing that differentiates padel from the three sports is the equipment or the instrument. For example, tennis uses a racket, which is a handle with an oval open frame where a network of strings is stretched tightly; padel, on the other hand, uses a different kind of racket which is shorter, has no strings, and instead has a solid plastic surface with holes in it.

How does padel sports work at Manila Padel Club?

In a nutshell, this is how padel works: when Team A hits the ball onto Team B’s side of the court, the ball is allowed to bounce off any part of the wall but it can only hit the floor once (maximum) before Team B hits back the ball back to Team A. Padel's point system awards Team A if Team B fails to hit the ball back to Team A's side with not more than one bounce of the ball on the floor.

If you're interested and want to commit to the high-energy sport, Manila Padel Club has yearly membership fees. But if you're not, the club is also offering membership fees for those who want to use the gym.
