(SPOT.ph) The year is 2008. Iron Man had just come out, and you likely had Katy Perry's I Kissed a Girl on repeat on your iPod Nano. If you so happened to be hanging out in Power Plant Mall at the time, the place to be was Pepper Lunch—the Japanese restaurant franchise known for their steak and rice dishes that you'd cook yourself on a "magic plate" that doubles as your serving vessel. Lines were long and the hype was high—yet diners would emerge with cravings sated and bellies satisfied from their filling, umami-rich signatures, among them their famous Beef Pepper Rice. These are all good memories you'll want to hang on to, as the restaurant has announced it'll be closing for good by July 1.

Here's what you should know about the closure of the Pepper Lunch Rockwell branch:
Pepper Lunch made the announcement "with a heavy heart" on their social media pages. "Pepper Lunch Power Plant Mall is closing its door permanently this 01 July 2023. We thank everyone who supported us for 15 years! It's our pleasure to have served you that Simply Irresistible goodness that is Pepper Lunch!"
You only have until, well, today to drop by the said branch and relive the memories. Past that, you can still head over to one of their other branches open in the Metro (nearest to Rockwell would be the Century City Mall outpost). Either way, that they've lasted 15 years and remain a highly hankered-for dining spot is no small feat given the fast-evolving nature of food trends today. They will be missed.
Pepper Lunch's Rockwell branch is at LG, Powerplant Mall at the Concourse Level, Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center, Makati City. For more information, check out Pepper Lunch Philippines' Facebook page.
