An Eight-Course Dinner of Local Produce and Sustainability (Plus Natural Wines!) by La Vie en Rose, Kai Farms, and SUPER (Natural)
When: August 13 and 14; cocktails at 6:30 p.m., dinner starts at 7 p.m.
Where: La Vie en Rose, Unit 2A, 6197 Gabaldon Street, Poblacion, Makati City
Local produce (sourced from Kai Farms!), natural wines, and the philosophy of sustainability come together in this upcoming tasting menu by Chef Luis Locsin, with upcoming runs on August 13 and 14 at P6,500 per person. Dubbed Pagtitipon, the eight-course affair begins with Fritters and Dips of leaves and edible flowers, then progresses to a Soup with the flavors of puso ng saging, before going to the one-of-a-kind Lumpiang Ubod Mille Feuille. This is followed by a Sayote course highlighting the earthiness of sayote tops in a piquant salad; a Fish course of tanigue and smoked bangus belly; and your main—Cuapao of beef shank, fermented pineapple, atsara, and wild herbs plus cured egg yolks for dipping. Mangosteen Sorbet and a Madeline dessert with a dikay berry gastrique serve to cap off the meal. Included with every course are also natural wines care of SUPER (Natural), to bring out the best of the food.

A Modern Filipino Six-Course Dinner at The Westin Manila
When: August 15 and 30, 7 to 9 p.m.
Where: Seasonal Tastes, The Westin Manila, San Miguel Avenue corner Lourdes Drive, Ortigas Center, Barangay Wack-Wack Greenhills, Mandaluyong City
Filipino food’s always great, but it can also happily be remixed—a task The Westin Manila’s Chef Rej Casanova is carrying out in Likhain, an upcoming six-course degustation (P4,000 net/person) to be held at The Westin’s Seasonal Tastes buffet-slash-restaurant. Beef Steak Tagalog with Australian rump and malunggay-spiked adlai, Ginataan with slow-cooked emperor fish confit, an Isaw-inspired amuse-bouche, Kilawin using tuna and a chili-tomato glaze, and more—all prepared and plated on cooking stations you can watch (and snap) live as you please. Pours of biodynamic wines will be served alongside, too.

A 14-Hands Pork Buffet at Marco Polo Ortigas
When: August 15, 6 to 9 p.m.

Pork, pork, and more pork is the theme of the The Pork & Spoon, an upcoming porcine buffet featuring seven well-known and loved chefs: Niño Laus (of Ninyo), Zarah Manikan (of Gelato Manila), Charles Montañez (of Alegria), Rexsan Abarquez (of Marco Polo Ortigas), Kel Zaguirre (of Locavore, Takao Studios, and other restaurants), Kalel Chan (of Raintree Restaurants), and Edward Bugia (of Mimi & Bros and Bean & Yolk). This will be held at Marco Polo Ortigas’ Cucina buffet for dinner on the 15th.

Tacos Galore at QC Wine Shop Toka Wine
When: August 17 to 20, 5 to 9:30 p.m.

Been wanting to try the birria tacos and other Mexican fare of Los Tacos, but live in the North and can’t be bothered to go all the way to Magallanes? Be sure to drop by Sosa, a pop-up by the brand’s Chef Keith Curitana at Toka Wine in Quezon City. This is part of Toka’s Will Host series of chef pop-ups and will feature everything from birria, ceviche, mole, and horchata paletas available for ordering ala carte.

Italian Specials at Conrad Manila’s Brasserie on 3 Buffet

Pierantonelli’s whipping up a slew of specials available at the hotel’s resident buffet, Brasserie on 3, until August 15th; we’re talking the likes of Insalata Di Polpo e Patate (octopus and potato salad), Tonno Scottato (seared tuna), and the standout Gnocchi Gorgonzola E Noci (scratch-made gnocchi in a gorgonzola cream sauce).

Here's your chance to try it without having to hop on a plane: drop by The Manila Hotel this month, as the hotel's teamed up with the esteemed chef and Flavors of Iloilo author to bring the region's specialties to their resident buffet, Café Ilang-Ilang! You can try traditional viands from the region, including Ginamos sa Tulapo, KBL (Kadios, Baboy, Langka), Laswa, Pancit Molo, and Pancit Efuven, but save space for the more one-of-a-kind dishes on their lineup—which includes an eye-opening batchoy ice cream. Yup. Lunch rates go for P2,995 from Monday to Saturday and P3,145 on Sunday; for dinner, it'll cost you P3,145 from Sunday to Wednesday and P3,790 from Thursday to Saturday.
