(SPOT.ph) Made from scratch—that's always been valued in Italy's tradition when it comes to food, and it’s a characteristic that makes pasta, pizzas, and other Italian classics stand out. If that wow factor in Italian cuisine is what you've long missed in this city of shortcuts, come on over to Conrad Manila's Brasserie on 3 to try Chef Valerio Pierantonelli's special menu to show off his skills in making spectacular gnocchi from scratch, among other things.

What's on the menu at Conrad Brasserie on 3's new Legendary Chef Series:

Chef Valerio Pierantonelli, the head chef of Conrad Singapore Orchard, stays true to the Italian tradition in his run as the featured chef in the hotel's Legendary Chefs Series - La Doce Vita. Hailing from Conrad Singapore (where he’s the head chef of Basilico), Chef Pierantonelli is now at Conrad Manila for one whole week to serve A+ Italian dishes.

You can start it off with something light such as Insalata Di Polpo e Patate which has slices of smoky Mediterranean octopus and chunky yellow potatoes tossed in a creamy, herby basil pesto. There's also the Asparahi Al Tartufo E Funghi, which may look like your regular roasted asparagus, but these are poached and slow-cooked in mushroom and truffle paste; another way to go about indulging in truffle is with a bowl of warm Zuppa Di Funghi E Tartufo, a thick soup paste of roasted mushroom and truffle.

The Tonno Scottato is a brilliant medium-rare tuna dish that uses yellowfin tuna and a mild lemon dressing to brighten it—not that it needs to because there's zero fishiness taste-wise and smell-wise. There's also the Gnocchi Gorgonzola E Noci, a soft dumpling made from scratch using yellow potatoes, boiled, and tossed in a gorgonzola, cream, parmesan, and toasted walnuts.

For dessert, you can expect that there's going to be traditional tiramisu included in the menu but you can switch it up with the Crostata Alle Fragole if you want something on the fruitier side. Crumby shortbread tart is used as the foundation of the dessert and is topped with sweet custard cream and slices of tart strawberries.

Other items you can expect during this special series are a live pasta station where you can see with your own eyes how they stuff the tortellini pasta with pork; plus a Carnaroli Risotto with Saffron and Asparagus Sauce.

Conrad Manila's Legendary Chef Series - La Dolce Vita menu is now available at the Brasserie on 3 and will be there only until August 15. The same dishes by Chef Pierantonelli are served during the lunch buffet, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and the dinner buffet, 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The lunch rates are P1,799 per head from Monday to Thursday and P3,000 per head from Friday to Sunday; the dinner rates are P2,299 per head from Monday to Thursday and P3,500 per head from Friday to Sunday.
