With Mosaic above and Azure below, Saffron is situated in the middle of Crimson’s property. Saffron boasts of a huge space—and understandably so—to house all the flavors and spices from all over the world. Much like how its communal tables both inside and outside (if you want that Bora breeze on your face) the restaurant can sit friends and families. No need to decide on one cuisine when you can have all, no? There’s something for everyone.

Don’t get us wrong, Saffron is an all-day international buffet restaurant. But if you want to “rise, shine, and dine,” the Crimson way, you best make your way over to their breakfast buffet, because, yes, it is so worth waking up for. The breakfast buffet runs from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and an a la carte menu is available from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

From pastries, cakes, and tarts a la French at the Cake Counter and Bread Display; handmade pizza and pasta the Italian way at the open kitchen Craft Pizza station to slow-grilled skewered meat, seafood, and vegetables in the Robatayaki area; Asian favorites like noodle soups, wok, dim sum stations—let your tastebuds travel around the world as you dine. You can’t miss the seafood in the Appetizer and Crustacean Table, plus the Barbeque Grill complete with different kinds of sauces, marinades, salts, spices, and chili. We had a little bit of everything during the two meals we shared (one in the afternoon and breakfast the next day) in the restaurant. 

Do not miss the breakfast buffet’s bacon. You’d think being on an island would have you eating fresh seafood all the time, but Saffron’s strips of bacon will have you missing none of that. Thick and meaty, yet sacrificing none of that addictive cronch, this bacon is worth getting there at 7 a.m. sharp for. No judgment if you keep on coming back to the station for more; it’s the perfect fuel food for a fun-filled day on the island. They also got beef tapa, longganisa, and tocino in the mix. Saffron knows how you like your eggs—because they have every kind—in the morning, too.

We got a taste of their Humba—fork-tender pork bathed in a perfect balance of sweet and salty (and fat) sauce—for lunch. A favorite would have to be the Maranao-style rendang called Riyandang if you want a little bit of that spicy kick. The name of the restaurant, saffron is a spice, after all. And they’re staying on point. Its sauce is thick and creamy and you’d want to lick the spoon clean every time you take a swipe at the bowl. We also had a slice of their pizza, particularly the Truffled Beef and Mushroom that proves you can never go wrong with the Italian staple. They have a dinner buffet every Friday and Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Crimson Resort and Spa sure gives its visitors the ultimate tasting experience throughout the day—and that’s whether or not you’re staying as a hotel guest. Saffron, and its breakfast buffet, will surely give you your much-needed head start for your ultimate Boracay experience.
