P20 Can Get You Selecta Cornetto Ice Cream Once Again

(SPOT.ph) Back when television was still a staple in everyone's household, Selecta’s Cornetto was among the king of commercial taglines in the late 2000s. “Hanggang saan aabot ang P20 mo?” continues to linger in everyone’s consciousness until today, persisting even when Cornetto went beyond its advertised price point some time in 2019.

Well, Cornetto has now brought back its original P20 suggested retail price (SRP) for four ice cream flavors: Chocolate, Cookies and Dream, Berry Matcha, and Vanilla. “P20 SRP noon, P20 SRP na ulit ngayon!” Cornetto posted on Facebook on October 9.

Is it really possible for Cornetto to be priced at P20 again?

Of course, there are skeptics. P20 for a Cornetto? In this economy? Filipinos can’t help but wonder what the catch is, especially since Cornettos are currently priced at P30 and above in supermarkets and convenience stores.

Some are chalking it up to shrinkflation, with one X (formerly Twitter) user pointing out that Cornetto is smaller than it was before, which could explain why Selecta was able to lower the price to what it was a whole decade ago. This has led others to suspect that the P20 Cornetto is actually just the new Cornetto Mini Multipack that was launched by Selecta last month, which retails for P180 for a pack of 12 pieces.

That, or the X user’s hand is just massive.

Whatever the case, we’re just glad to have that P20 price back.

Do note that SRPs only serve as a guideline for pricing, but retailers can choose to sell the product at a different price, which could be influenced by various factors like market demand and competition.
