Here's what you can expect from the new private dining service of Kazunori:

Omotenashi by Kazunori ain't just any old catering or delivery service. See, omotenashi refers to the idea (the "deep-rooted culture," per the Japan National Tourism Organization) of wholeheartedly looking after guests—think hospitality gone the extra extra mile. Book the Omotenashi service and the Kazunori team travels out to your home, to prepare a whole restaurant-caliber feast from their special mobile kitchen truck.

Take your pick from the three packages they've got available. For parties of 10 to 12 hungry folks there's the plated full-service option that includes an appetizer, entree, and dessert; for casual gatherings, the buffet option is your best bet. And if you're really looking to treat yourself, there's the omakase—which, as tradition dictates, leaves the whole flow of the meal in the hands of Chef Kuramochi Kazunori. (You can opt to have wine pairing with your meal, too.)

Japanese cuisine, Chef Kazunori explains, is an "art form"—one that "emphasizes simplicity and balance." He's all about working with what's seasonal and available—Hitachiwagyu and Kawagishi Wagyu (both mega-prized for their taste and tenderness), Bafun uni (a favorite for its natural sweetness and nuttiness), and kegani (a.k.a. horsehair crabs), to name a few. From there, he brings out the best of these ingredients with the foundational elements of salt, soy sauce, and sake.

The SPOT.ph team had the privilege of experiencing their private omakase in its full glory, and oh, was it sublime from start to finish, checking all the right boxes as far as swoon-worthy Japanese eats go. Standout courses include the Hokkaido Kegani, Uni, Kiku no Hana, a three-part composition that highlights sweet horsehair crab meat; Hokki Aburi Sashimi, seared just a touch for a smoky undertone; Hitachi Wagyu Sukiyaki highlighting the said beef from the Ibaraki and Gunma Prefectures; the trio of nigiri prepared tableside and topped with Chutoro, Otoro Aburi, and Anago; and the Kuma Nabe with a collagen-rich fish stock "bear" that melts into a soothing soup as it's heated.

"This is where there we can bring our expertise in food and service beyond the four walls of our restauran,t" says Kazunori's Ryan K. Cruz. "Having a private dining service is completely aligned with our desire to just have the customer expend their energies on their experience and their companions, nothing else—now in the most convenient location for them."
