(SPOT.ph) Korea's penchant for all things spicy has pretty much taken over the world at this point, thanks in no small part to eating challenges on TikTok and Youtube involving the consumption of food items like this Samyang Buldak noodles. The instant ramen brand just made it to news reports because Danish officials are warning their citizens about the dangers that may accompany its ingestion, even recalling select varieties of the product as they may be too hot to handle.

Samyang Buldak instant noodles recall in Denmark

A recall has been issued on Samyang's Buldak 3x Spicy & Hot Chicken, 2x Spicy & Hot Chicken, and Hot Chicken Stew variants. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration warns about the capsaicin levels in a single packet being "so high that they pose a risk of the consumer developing acute poisoning," emphasizing the warning for children who might be influenced by spicy-noodle challenges on TikTok.

Customers are encouraged to discard or return packets of the Samyang variants mentioned above if they've already purchased them.

"We understand that the Danish food authority recalled the products not because of a problem in their quality but because they were too spicy," Samyang tells BBC in response. "The products are being exported globally. But this is the first time they have been recalled for the above reason."

Note that every country has different food safety standards, and the Philippines has not issued any similar recall.
