Bakeries in Metro Manila With Closing-Time Discounts

(SPOT.ph) Ever notice how a queue always forms at mall bakeries around nighttime? It’s no coincidence—there are two reasons as to why this phenomenon happens.

First, it's probably the only free time people have to buy food, whether it's for a late-night snack, pasalubong to bring home to the family, or breakfast.

Second, and most likely, there are long lines for a bakery's closing time or closing-hour discounts.  Bakeries—especially the bigger brands with several franchises that bake bread daily—have to ensure the freshness of their products, hence those "everything has to go" promos. 

Treat yourself by ending the day on a sweet note! Here’s a go-to list of bakeries with closing-hour deals that’ll make your inner bargain hunter proud.

Bakeries in Metro Manila with closing time sales:

CafeFrance

Closing-time sales start at 8 p.m. daily, all-day on Fridays

CafeFrance's promos are a buy-one, take-one deal on their bread—the selection depends on what breads are left on the shelves. Cross your fingers that the Ham and Cheese Croissants, Baguettes, and Cheese Rolls are available when you visit!

In case your schedule doesn't permit you to go to a nearby CafeFrance during that tight window of the daily closing-time promos, the bakery does have this same buy-one, take-one promo the whole day on Fridays. That's more chances of winning!

Wildflour Café + Bakery

Closing-time sales start at 6 p.m. on weekdays, 7 p.m. on weekends

Wildflour's selection of baked bread is really good—but we'll be the first to admit that despite its delicious factor, it's also not that budget-friendly. Fortunately, the bakery has "Dough Dashes" where they have 50% discounts on all their pastries. There are two schedules for their Dough Dashes: 6 p.m. onwards on weekdays (Monday to Friday) and 7 p.m. onwards on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). 

Consider this as a fair warning, as someone who was complacent but has learned for the better: Don't go on the dot. It's best to be there earlier—around 15 minutes earlier at the very least—for higher chances of getting the best of the best, a.k.a. the Kouign Amannm Pain au Chocolat, Cremadettes, and my personal favorite, the Tomato and Cheese Danish.

The French Baker

Closing-time sales start an hour before closing

Do you also have a memory of your parents bringing you to The French Baker during closing time? I recall my mom would point at the bread she wanted while I would get the plastic tongs to pick said pieces of bread and place them on the tray she was holding.

If you want to relive the ritual of bread shopping, The French Baker still puts all their bread and pastries at a 50% discount an hour before the branch closes. Make sure to secure the bakery's bestselling French Sourdough, Cheese Parisienne, and Apple Turnover.

New Bistro Deli

Closing-time sales start at 3 p.m. onwards*

New Bistro Deli, previously named Country Style, has daily sales on their bestselling doughnuts where you can get a 20% discount. If you love chocolate, you should definitely get the Triple Choco Boom, and even if the coffee isn't part of the discount, you need to try the doughnuts with the coffee to complete the experience.

*When we called one of New Bistro Deli's branches in Metro Manila, we were told that there's no fixed time as to when the 20% discount on doughnuts is offered. Sometimes it would start at 3 p.m., other times it would start at 4 p.m. This will depend on the branch.

Bizu Patisserie & Bistro

Closing-time sales start at 3 p.m. onwards

Bizu Patisserie & Bistro is more than its macarons; they also bring their A+ game on the bread selection. The patisserie-bistro offers a 30% discount on all their breads—depending on availability, of course—from 3 p.m. onwards until closing time.

Now, if you're looking for recommendations: Bizu Patisserie & Bistro's Ciabatta (Regular or Whole Wheat) and the Sourdough Bread are choices that won't disappoint. If luck is on your side, you should also buy Bizu's bestselling Focaccia and Pandesal should these be available during the closing-hour discount.

Jipan

No definite date and time for this closing-time sale

Jipan, a local Japanese cafe and bakery of more than three decades, offers a 20% discount on selected breads like loaves, rolls, and savory and sweet pastries.

The only catch is that the discount has no definite date and time, as we were informed through a call with one of their Metro Manila branches. You would have to go to Jipan yourself to check if the promo is available and, more importantly, if your favorite bread is also part of the discounted selection.
