(SPOT.ph) Remember the buzz generated when the Haidilao Hot Pot board-up was seen at Mall of Asia back in 2023? The Sichuan hot pot chain opened its first branch in the Philippines at SM Mall of Asia at the beginning of 2024, and it didn't take too long for the local food crowd to embrace the brand and add it to their list of go-to hot pot spots. A year later, the hot pot chain known for its wide variety of broths and raw ingredients—and A+ customer service—has now opened a second branch at Robinsons Galleria.

A look inside Haidilao Hot Pot's new branch at Robinsons Galleria

On January 31, a day right after Chinese New Year, the Haidilao branch at Robinsons Galleria officially opened to the public. The new location means even more diners can enjoy the full Haidilao experience—hot pot fans from the North (looking at ya, folks from Greenhills, New Manila, and neighboring areas of Mandaluyong, San Juan, Pasig, and Quezon City) don't need to go all the way to Pasay for their hot pot fix anymore.

With the new Robinsons Galleria branch, you can get the exact same menu as broths, meats, balls, vegetables, and noodles as the ones served at SM Mall of Asia. Customers can order food and drinks using the tablet on the table, but a caution for Haidilao first-timers: The menu is an on a la carte basis, but there's no need to worry as the prices are quite reasonable too.

Each table with built-in burners can accommodate up to four broths. During our visit, we went with the signature Sichuan Spicy Hot Pot that leaves your tongue with a tingling sensation; the Mushroom Soup that's always a safe, versatile, and tasty option; the tangy Tomato Hot Pot that's good on its own; the Bulalo Soup should you want something more familiar.

When it came to the meats and vegetables, Haidilao has an extensive selection. We highly recommend getting any of the unmarinated pork or beef strips, Sea Urchin Balls (P72/half portion, P143/full portion), Cheese Snack (P54/half portion, P108/full portion), Bean Curd Rolls (P99/half portion, P197/full portion), Assortment of Mushroom (P241) which has golden mushroom, shimeji mushroom, and shiitake mushroom, and, if you're feeling fancy, the fresh Abalone too. You can also request the Dancing Noodle Man (P89) for freshly pulled pasta but with the added theatrics.

Haidilao sets itself apart from other cook-it-yourself restaurants with its above-and-beyond customer service. You can ask the servers how many minutes the meats need to be cooked if you're unsure if the food is cooked enough to eat, and the servers can cook the food for you should you feel tired as the designated cook on the table.

This is the Haidilao signature experience, after all. This, plus the free hand massage or manicure to its customers, free toys for kids (plus access to the kid's room!), a free massager for elders, and free baby socks for pregnant mothers. This thoughtfulness also trickles down to the littlest things such as aprons you can wear while you're cooking and eating; screen wipes for your phone; hair ties for customers with long hair; and the free minty candies as dessert.

The only thing that's different with the new Haidilao branch is the seating capacity; the Robinsons Galleria branch can accommodate up to 284 people (that's 30+ more than SM Mall of Asia). The new branch has 10 VIP Rooms, each can fit up to eight guests, plus there are plans to have an al fresco dining area too.

Haidilao at Robinsons Galleria is set to introduce an al fresco-inspired dining area with a glasshouse-style setup sometime in February this year. This space will offer an open-air feel without sacrificing the comfort of air conditioning. According to Eric Zhan, Front Office Manager of Haidilao Philippines Restaurant Corporation, maintaining a cool, comfortable environment remains a top priority as you're slurping on piping hot broths. And considering our summer months of excruciating heat, we'll gladly take it.

Now, if you're eagerly waiting for Haidilao’s third branch like we are—good news! The hot pot chain does have expansion plans for the Philippines. The not-so-good news? There's no confirmed location or date yet. But hey, considering their track record, maybe they have a thing for opening in January.

So, January 2026, perhaps? Cross your fingers and get your chopsticks ready.

Founded in Sichuan in 1994 (now with numerous branches around China and the rest of Asia!), Haidilao is loved for its great-tasting hot pot—where you can choose from different broths, ingredients, sauces, and more. Adding to the whole experience are live performances, great customer service, provisions that include a hair tie and plastic bags for phones, and more, to go with your meal.
