This small natural wine bar in Poblacion is hosting Aussie-Filipino chef Valentine Costuna of Le Chai restaurant for V-Day (apt, eh?). Costuna is known to herald seasonality in his cooking; he frequently makes use of fresh produce and seafood, along with the rustic elements of fire, charcoal, and smoke. Catch him at Bibio on February 14 to 15 (there are two seatings per night: 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.) as he whips up ala-carte plates of cured tuna with shiso and black sesame béarnaise; grilled chicken heart with makhani sauce; braised beef cheek with carrots, kimchi, and curry leaves, and more, to the tune of slow jams specially picked by DeeJae Paeste.

Morton’s the Steakhouse

For a textbook romantic steak dinner on Valentine’s day, look no further than Morton’s the Steakhouse. The steakhouse chain from Chicago’s taken care of all the guesswork and planning to prepare a five-course set for two (P14,000) available from February 13 to 16. It covers everything from appetizers (bacon steak, oysters on a half shell, or bacon sea scallops), soup (French onion), salad (caesar or chopped house salad), a USDA Prime steak of your choice (filet mignon, New York strip, or plain or Cajun ribeye) with sides (choose two from the following: mac and cheese, garlic rice, truffled cream corn, cream spinach, and sour cream mashed potato), a bottle of wine, and dessert.

The gin and tea bar in Quezon City is treating couples to exclusive three-course dinner sets (P2,888) featuring its new dishes. You’ll start with Flora’s winning Pineapple Cups then move to bites (Ikura Truffle Uni, and Cacao & Beer); a main of your choice (Mushroom Rendang, or Cacao Pork Belly); Strawberry Tiramisu for dessert; and Valentine's cocktails. Relatively hidden location aside, Seva is probably one of San Juan’s best date spots, and they’ve got quite the treat for diners on Valentine’s Day. On their menu are new and old Seva specials: bites of Seva’s “most loved”; Oyster; Spicy Vodka Rigatoni; Iberico; Short Rib; and Panna Cotta. Rates go for P4,500 per head and this is available on February 14, with seating options of 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8 p.m.

If you prefer to (literally) spice things up for Valentine’s, wink wink, consider Your Local’s set menu (P4,500/head) that makes playful use of Asian flavors. You’ll start with bites of crab- and coconut-topped kropek and trout, mentaiko, and nori over chicharon; from there you’ll move to courses like kaffir-scented tuna with somen; “MSG” or mantou, shiitake, and gorgonzola; lamb pares with tinigib corn and sambal; Hainan chicken with cauliflower; halibut with collagen and muscat grapes; Wagyu beef, miso, pumpkin, and mixed grains; plus two desserts and two beverages. This is available on February 13 and 14, with two seatings available per night: 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

This small Katipunan gem is perfect if you’re looking for a cozy, low-key yet effortlessly chic space to dine (and drink!) this Valentine’s Day. They’ve got ala-carte specials exclusive to the occasion: Beef Tartare underlined by salsa macha and crispy potato (P490); Local Blue Crab with seaweed rice and crab fat creme (P750); and Braised Lamb Meatballs with tomato and anchovies (P580). This Neo-Filipino bistro gives us fresh ways to see (and taste) local flavors, and for Valentine’s they’ve got a seven-course menu (P4,600/head) that showcases what they do best. Hokkaido Scallops are paired with dayap and chorizo pudpud; and Uni, with eggplant and mango. There’s also Burrata with tomato, bone marrow and liver, Lapu-lapu with tamarind, coconut and ginger; Iberico Secreto with black garlic; Oxtail in a peanut sauce; and a halo-halo esque Pavlova with coconut mascarpone, sweet potato, banana, and ube.

Quezon City’s Narra Bistro & Café has a reasonably priced three-course menu (P3,500/two people) that’ll take you through an appetizer (Tuna Tartare, Wild Mushroom Soup, or Straciatella Salad), main (USDA Angus Ribeye, Sous Vide Pork Tomahawk, or Grilled Prawn), and dessert (Berry Pavlova), plus drinks (wine, sangria, cocktails).
