Del Union BGC Is Stopping Operations This Month
You have less than a month to drink all the Dirty Horchata that you can.
(SPOT.ph) La Union’s beloved El Union Coffee brewed up major excitement when it announced a Metro Manila outpost, Del Unión Coffee. The coffee shop opened in Bonifacio High Street a year ago in February, sharing a space with Fully Booked. But just a year later, all that fun is already coming to an abrupt end as Del Unión has announced it will be stopping its operations on March 27—leaving fans with just a few weeks to savor their last cup of Dirty Orxata.

Del Unión in Bonifacio High Street to stop operations by March 27
"It Hasn't Worked Out (25 Days to Go)," reads Del Unión's latest social media post. Much to the dismay of the coffee shop's longtime patrons and supporters, Del Unión's last day of operations at the Fully Booked building will be in less than a month, unfortunately.
In the same post, the coffee shop mentions their goal of being a "vessel for bold, unconventional, and even radical ideas," which no one can deny with their sandwiches like the vegan Kalabasa Roast (P180/Snack, P330/Full) sandwich and drinks like Dirty Champorado (P220/Hot, P230/Iced) on the menu.
The Del Unión people says opening a coffee shop—approximately 280 kilometers away from the OG outlet (Thanks, Google Maps)—was one of the bravest decisions they've ever made. Well, apart from keeping an out-of-the-box menu. But for reasons undisclosed, "it hasn't worked out" for the coffee shop owned by Kiddo Cosio, Amy Cosio, EJ Lagman, Alex Lagman, Matt San Pedro, and Monica Narisma.
Del Unión closes the social media post with a heartfelt message, which is a reflection on their journey: "Though our time in the space has been cut short, we close knowing that we did the most we could. For each day we were given to be of service to you all, we're grateful. We're not too sure what the future holds for our Manila shop but we do intend on making the most of our last month. We'd love to serve you all once more. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for having us."

It seems as though for the rest of the summer, getting our hands on a cup of Dirty Orxata means another road trip to the surf town of Urbiztondo and grabbing a seat at El Union. While, yes, it is unfortunate, but hey, at least we get seawater to cool us down and espresso to wake us up. Silver linings, right?
Hopefully—and we want you to hold our hands and manifest alongside us—Del Union will eventually open another Metro Manila store in the near or distant future, whichever works. In the meantime, you can catch Del Union's last month inside the Fully Booked building along Bonifacio High Street. They are open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Thursday; from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday.
