Here's Where to Get the Best Crinkles in Manila

Not all crinkles are created equal.

( What is it about crinkles? Maybe it’s the contrast of its snowy powdered-sugar coating and its bittersweet chocolate interior; maybe it’s the crackles of dough that form as it deflates after baking (thus earning it the name, “crinkles”). Either way, it's one of the most-loved cookies around, finding its way as a regular addition to the rosters of panaderya and bakeshops the country over. But not all crinkles are equal, and we sought to find the best in our Top 10 Crinkles in Manila list.

What makes a good crinkle? The texture should be fudgy and chewy, the flavor a deep, dark chocolate, and the sweetness just right. Other flavorings and additions are welcome, but the focus should be on the cookie base itself.

Hiraya Bakery’s version, imbued with mint, won us over with its especially dark flavor. Nono's version also stood out—meaty aftertaste aside—with its fudginess, which is perfect when paired with a glass of milk. Of course, the famous ADB Crinkles made their way to the list too, scoring high points for its unmistakeable chewiness.
