La Picara Has Been Ordered Closed; Here’s What We’ve Heard

You may have gotten wind of the BGC restaurant's closure over the weekend.

(SPOT.ph) La Picara has become the go-to spot for people in the Metro looking for great Spanish eats in a gorgeous but relaxed setting. If you've been meaning to eat there—they have a great outdoor deck for dining—you'll have to put your plans on hold: the BGC restaurant was closed on January 22 by the Taguig city government.

While La Picara has not yet issued out a declaration or official position, a La Picara contact tells us, "We failed to keep some customers, who perfectly followed rules during the night, properly distanced for a minute of a cake moment."

La Picara Closure

Here's what went down: La Picara "had other bookings that night", and the whole night occurred without issues with the rest of customers or the mall security. "We closed at the normal time, billing out everybody by 11 [p.m.] and letting people slowly leave before the 12 a.m. curfew." The problem was that "the normal and strict setup that [a particular booking] followed during the whole night—one table per person with no face to face dining—was ruined when they brought a cake out and everybody stood up, driven by the happiness."

La Picara opened in 2019, and gave Spanish classics creative and modern twists—such as adding kimchi to their croquettas and chili crab to their paella.
