Get Ready, Pizza Fans: Kermit Is Opening in La Union

It'll be a slightly different concept.

(SPOT.ph) Whether you surf or not, trips to Siargao are always made all the more memorable with a visit—or many visits—to Kermit, the local Italian spot that serves seriously mean pizza and pasta in a chill-as-can-be location. They also brought their famous eats closer to our shores as they opened a branch in Poblacion in 2018. If you happen to be up north, we've got good news: Kermit is opening in La Union this month!

The La Union branch will be at the Great Northwest Philippines Travel Stop & Viewing Deck and will open on February 12. "It will be a [slightly] different concept, since [the location is] small," says owner Gianni Grifoni in an exchange with SPOT.ph. "[The] focus [will be] on [offering] refreshing cocktails, lots of pica-pica, pizza al taglio [which are] already ready and cut for quick bites, of course pizzas [that are] possibly a little smaller, pasta [which is our] main bestseller... and also steaks from Kitayama beef."

"[We] wanna create the vibe [of] people having drinks and good bites while watching the surfers," says Grifoni. Moreover, for every P500 spent, Kermit is giving P5 to a local NGO.

Kermit is known for their simple-but-stellar pizzas baked in their pizza oven from Italy. Our fingers are crossed that the La Union branch also offers their Kermit Pizza with gorgonzola, brie, provolone, mozzarella, and parma ham; and their Stimpies with provolone, brie, parmesan, gorgonzola, and mozzarella fior de latte, which also happened to top our 2019 Top 10 Cheese Pizzas in Manila list.

Other menu items our fingers are crossed will make it to the new branch are their Tagliatelle alla Tartufata and Ravioli alla Bolognese.
