(SPOT.ph) The Filipino love for ramen runs deep and in particular, the soulful bowls of Mendokoro Ramenba are a real fan favorite. With well-thought out bowls that deliver big on richness and umami, it's no wonder they've won over audiences (and drawn crowds) at their branches in Makati, BGC, and Alabang. For those nearer to the Pasay area, though, it's not always easy to make the trip to their shops—which at times means having to put your cravings on hold. Not for long, though: The local ramen-ya has confirmed that they're opening in the said area—specifically, in the recently opened IKEA Philippines.

Get excited, as Mendokoro Ramenba is opening a new branch soon in IKEA Philippines:
You read that right: Soon, you can get your Mendokoro fix right after your furniture-shopping trip as they'll be opening at our local IKEA in Pasay by the third quarter of 2022, as part of the ramen shop's ongoing expansion! "As we relocated our Head Office at Four Ecom, Mall of Asia Complex this [2021], it is only fitting that we also start capturing the market in the South," shares Nippon Hasha Inc.'s Niguel Angelo Arevalo in an exchange with SPOT.ph. "This will be ideal for lifestyle enthusiasts visiting MOA Square, and those who hold office in the area."
You can expect their famous bowls to be there, crafted up by their own Japanese chef and "ramen champion" Hideaki Aoyama. These include the simple yet rich and well-executed Shio to the umami-rich Shoyu, nutty Tantanmen, seafood-esque Ebi Tonkotsu, smoky-savory Super Chashu, juicy Gyoza, and more—as well as a variety of soba dishes. You'll also be able to order Mendokoro's famous take-home kits, in case you're looking to take the ramen experience to your own dining table.

"We are excited to start its construction and continue providing livelihood to our fellow Filipinos," says Arevalo. For now, you can keep those hankerings sated at their other branches, as well as their weekend pop-ups; this December 4 to 5 you can catch them at Robinsons Magnolia, and you can follow them on social media for more updates.
Mendokoro Ramenba is a ramen joint from the folks behind fellow ramen restaurant Yushoken. They opened their first branch in Makati in 2014 and have commanded long lines (pre-pandemic) ever since.
