(SPOT.ph) Living in a tropical country, we Filipinos sure love our frozen desserts. And while ice cream and gelato might be some of the more popular options around, we were happily able to try two of their equally swoon-worthy cousins as Rita's Italian Ice opened in our shores in 2014. Peddling Italian ice (a.k.a. finely shaved ice in an array of flavors) and frozen custard (an ice cream-esque dessert with egg yolks in the mix, making for a richer and thicker treat), the Philadelphia-originating chain won over our sugar-loving hearts, especially as they would bring out special and limited flavors from time to time—including Halo-Halo, at one point! You'll want to hold on real tight to those memories, though. Rita's Italian Ice has announced that they're closing their Philippine doors permanently on January 15.

Rita's Italian Ice is closing their doors:
The Italian-ice brand announced the closure on January 11 through their social media channels, expressing their "heartfelt gratitude" for the patronage and support of their many fans during their seven-year stint in the country. "We're sorry to say that we have reached the end of our journey here.... Thank you so much for all the memories."

Until then, you still have a chance to drop by their outposts at UP Town Center
Ayala the 30th—they're even holding a Buy-One, Take-One promo at their shops. Be sure to mask up and stay safe, though, Spotters!
