New at Starbucks: White Chocolate Macadamia Drinks for a Creamy Summer Hit
Plus more new sips and bites in time for summer.

(SPOT.ph) Checked your calendar lately? Yup, chaotic as the past few months have been, you've made it to mid-April—and summer's in full swing. Now we don't know about you, but with rising temperatures comes the rising need for a cool and refreshing sip! Going for an iced beverage at Starbucks always works wonders—and if you're looking to change it up from your usual order, you'll be happy to know that they've got new drinks on their menu, as well as sweet and savory bites that are perfect for the season.

These new drinks at Starbucks Philippines will help you cool down this summer:
For starters, there's Starbucks' new Yuzu Passionfruit M:LK Cream (starts at P170/tall). This cool layered beverage goes for a fruity base of yuzu, a.k.a. the Japanese citrus famed for its distinct zestiness; passionfruit, for tropical twist; and Starbucks' signature Zen Clouds Oolong tea. From there, Starbucks layers a creamy cereal cap made with Starbucks' new Plant-based M:LK Cream, made with oat milk and rice whipping cream—which contributes just the right amount of richness to balance out the other vibrant flavors.

Prefer a creamy and decadent sip? The Macadamia White Choco Latte (starts at P175/tall) has your back. In it is Starbucks' signature espresso for robustness, plus a macadamia-white chocolate syrup and whipped cream.

We got to try it ourselves and found that it's similar to their other lattes—which is great if you don't want to veer too far away from what's comfy and familiar. The coffee is more of an undertone in this drink, which really brings the creaminess to the forefront. There's a definite macadamia hit to it, yes, but it's the light creaminess that takes centerstage from top to bottom. The whipped cream up top takes the flavor a little deeper, but it depends on whether you mix the cream in or scoop it up with the spoon. The only drawback is that the ice dilutes the drink as you go along so it's definitely not one for sipping slowly.

For a real IG-worthy treat, go for the Macadamia White Choco Ocean Frappuccino (starts at P180/tall)—a cream-based drink with the flavors of macadamia and white chocolate, plus a dash of blueberry sugar powder that also makes for a picturesque gradient look. (Note that this drink is only available at selected branches for now—but they'll be rolling it out to more locations very soon!)

And to go with their new beverages, Starbucks has rolled out new and returning food items you'll want to nibble on alongside. On the savory end of the spectrum, there's the Takoyaki Bun (P105) filled with diced octopus and takoyaki sauce for added umami. You can also go gooey with the quesadilla-esque Oh My Cheesydilla (P125) stuffed with cheese; or have a bold yet creamy bite with the Penne alla Vodka (P185) a.k.a. penne tossed in a plant-based creamy tomato sauce.

From there, go ahead and end things on a lush-meets-fruity note with the Berries and Cream Cake (P215/slice, P1,720/whole)—it's got a berry filling in between two layers of sponge cake, plus whipped cream and sliced almonds for pizzazz. Alternatively, go ahead and treat your inner Bruce Bogtrotter to the Blackout Cake (P225/slice, P1,800/whole)—a chocolate-on-chocolate-on-chocolate affair with layers of dense chocolate cake, chocolate fudge, and dark chocolate frosting.
