(SPOT.ph) Carnivores rejoice! It looks like another famous steakhouse is hitting our shores soon. Ikinari Steak, a.k.a. Sudden Steak, is one of Japan’s most famous restaurants with over 400 branches around the country. Ikinari has been in the itinerary of many a Japan tourist not only because of its promise of having thick high-quality steak but also because of its reasonable price point as compared to other steakhouses. Lucky for us because signs are pointing to a branch of the casual steakhouse chain opening Pasay— at least as indicated by a tarpaulin we spotted in the area.

What is Ikinari Steak and is it really coming to Manila?
We spotted the Ikinari Steak boardup in MOA Square—you know the latest expansion to SM Mall of Asia that houses IKEA.
As of writing, there aren’t any updates nor formal announcements on opening dates and menu items, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that Ikinari not only brings with it its commitment to serve quality meats but also, its sensible price point. Don’t believe us about the pricing? Well, based on the Japanese menu, 300 grams of thick charcoal-grilled Filet Mignon is just about P1,400 while 300 grams of grilled ribeye steak is a little over P1,100 pesos—those would easily cost over double in most high-end steakhouses in the Philippines. Aside from that, the menu also offers the ability to customize how much meat you get, what cut, and how well it’s cooked which makes the experience all the more perfect for all kinds of steak eaters.
Ikinari Steak is a Japan-based restaurant chain operated by the Pepper Food Service, the same Japanese company that runs the Pepper Lunch franchise in Japan. Ikinari has gained popularity among its customers for its casual and laid-back approach to serving exquisite high-grade steak. Its menu offers the choice of pre-portioned cuts of meat as well as custom weighted cuts by gram without breaking the bank.
We're not yet sure what to expect from the Philippine franchise of this Japanese brand but if we're to base it on its Japanese counterparts, it bound to be—wait for it—steak-tacular! (Ba-dum tss.) Stay tuned for more updates.
