(SPOT.ph) Japanese food has a special way of connecting to the Filipino palate—we don't expect the cuisine (and restaurants that serve it) to go out of fashion anytime soon in these parts. Just a couple of months back, a new player entered the local resto scene: Ginza, a semi-hidden spot in along Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City that's worth seeking out thanks to their stellar sushi, sashimi, and other takes on Japanese classics. Based more toward the North? Just recently they opened a new branch over in Ortigas—great news if you're there and looking to get a taste of the izakaya's signatures.

Japanese dining spot Ginza is now in Ortigas:

You'll find Ginza's Ortigas branch along the ground floor of the Agustin building, near other offices on Emerald Avenue, making it an easy spot to hit up after work if you're in the area. In an exchange with SPOT.ph, Ginza shares that the interiors are a work in progress—but the food's really where it's at. They've got the exact same menu as their Chino Roces branch, similarly employing classic techniques and great-quality Japanese ingredients.

There's something for everyone here: go simple with donburi (rice bowls) like the Gyunikudon (P650) with thin slices of USDA beef or Unadon (P1,500) a.k.a. unagi rice bowl, or go for a plate of the 5 Kinds Aburi (P880) sushi for a smoky, flavor-bomb bite. Love them noods? The Ginza Sumiyaki Udon (P850)—their signature dish of stir-fried charcoal noodles and seafood—is a mighty option. And if you're looking to celebrate a job well done at work, definitely treat yourself to topnotch sushi and sashimi with the 15 Kinds Nigiri Platter (P2,000) or Premium Sashimi Platter (P7,000); both are well worth the splurge.
