This Under-the-Radar IG Shop Makes Some of the Most Stunning Cakes Around

(SPOT.ph) Cake is the answer to everything and anything from birthdays to breakups—and the great thing about the dessert is its way of paving for creativity on the presentation front. You know what they say; people eat with their eyes, and there's something especially festive about having a grand, visually pleasing cake at the center of the table. Here's one to check out: BBakery, an online seller with a wide range of stunning cakes under their roster!

The B of BBakery, owner Geraldine Santiago relays, stands for the name of her mother Betty Chu, who had dreams of Santiago opening a bakeshop. "Being one of the children of the founder of Savory Restaurant, my mother wanted me to carve my own niche in the food services business," Santiago admits. "This was somewhat perplexing because I was a children’s clothes designer and I, together with my husband, manufacture children’s clothing. I love drawing and painting, but baking was another matter."

Santiago ended up opening BBakery as a "tribute" to Chu as the latter passed away. "My first cakes were done entirely by me, together with my cook and househelper," she admits. Despite having little experience, Santiago would study the cake-making craft by way of Youtube videos—and they grew a modest following via word of mouth. "From three the number of customers grew to ten and as the months progressed the numbers increased as well. My husband and I are the persons behind this concept and we have a few friends who have contributed some ideas into the venture."

Today, BBakery's cake range is as versatile as it comes, as they whip up everything from classic to more contemporary variations for whatever occasion might pop up on your calendar. We're talking old-fashioned crowd-pleasers like the My Caramel (starts at P1,100) or Classic Sansrival (P1,350) that are perfect for purists; fruity confections like the Forever Mango (P1,550) or Almond Lychee (P1,550) when you crave a lighter, brighter bite; and more decidedly decadent numbers like the Ferrero Cake (P1,850) to help you cope with the midweek stress. The online venture is best known for their glass cakes, or round cakes with a sponge base and colorful toppings blanketed by a clear sheet of gelatin that mimics glass. There's the Gummy Glass Cake (P2,550), for one, that features gummy bears in their whimsical glory; a more grownup variation is the Celebrate Cake (P2,950) with a medley of fresh, juicy fruit. "It normally takes three hours to create a celebrate cake or its other versions," shares BBakery's Geraldine Santiago.
