(SPOT.ph) It's always gratifying to conclude a great night out with a good tipple or two. For the swanky set, there's Elbert's Upstairs Bar—the speakeasy stationed right above Mendokoro Ramenba in BGC, known for its excellent takes on classic cocktails and its brooding, elegant space. The under-the-radar spot opened in late 2018 and drew a distinct crowd of fine folks who appreciate a good drink, and stood out from the boozy empire that is BGC with its less-is-more yet quality-focused approach. You'll want to drop by the said outpost and savor the moment while you can, though, as the Elbert's Upstairs Bar will be closing for the time being, with their last day being on November 15.
Elbert's Upstairs Bar is closing its BGC outpost:
The Upstairs Bar's eponymous Elbert Cuenca (also of the recently closed Elbert's Pizzeria) confirms the news in an exchange with SPOT.ph. But not all is lost, as Cuenca shares that they'll be opening a new concept soon dubbed Elbert's Collective. "Elbert's Collective is essentially an expansion of Elbert's Pizzeria in Salcedo Village, at V Corporate Center," he explains. "We took over the space of the neighbor establishment and we are now renovating it to create... Elbert’s Collective." The concept will also serve as a "full-service all-day restaurant" and one-stop shop for his previous concepts: Elbert’s Cheesesteak Sandwiches, Elbert’s Diner, Elbert’s Pizzeria, and Elbert’s Upstairs Bar.
Cuenca admits that the opening—originally intended to take place "in time for the holidays"—has been delayed due to "technical issues," but projects it to push through by "early next year, [in 2023]." In the meantime, we say drop by Elbert's Upstairs Bar while you still can—and support your favorite local establishments whenever possible.
Elbert's Upstairs Bar is at Mezzanine level, Unit 1B, Icon Plaza, Federacion Drive, Bonifacio Global City. For more information, check out Elbert's Upstairs Bar's Facebook page.
